Brian and Marjan's Persian & Jewish Wedding Ceremony At The Rainier Club - Joy And More Joy!
It was truly an honor for me to create and deliver Brian and Marjan's Inter-Faith wedding ceremony at The Ranier Club. Brian and Marjan live in New York City and took a leap of faith on the "marrying lady" in Seattle sight unseen! We worked together via email and phone to create and craft a beautiful ceremony that wove together the traditions and rituals from Marjan's Persian Heritage and Brian's Jewish Heritage.
Jen and Jody from www.jenandjody.com captured the true essence of this beautiful couple with lasting photo memories.
Brian and Marjan - "may your love be as difficult to break as it would be to put back together the pieces of this glass!" Mazel Tov!

An "Aloha" Wedding At The Willows Lodge - Congratulations to George & Kris!

George and Kris ~ The Willows Lodge ~ A Winter Wedding
The Spirit of Aloha! There was so much "Aloha" at George and Kris's Winter wedding at The Willows Lodge. So much love.
For their ceremony, George and Kris included a wide variety of personalized elements and pieces to include family and friends in the moment. Thinking back, there was so much and what stood out was the exchange of leis, warm words to family and parents, a "surprise" to open on a special wedding anniversary, a song by the Bride's Mother with a chorus of cousins and much more.
George and Kris - I wish you every happiness! And thank you to Alyssa of Alyssa Rose Photography for this gorgeous photo! www.alyssarosephotography.com

Having Worked With Dozens Of Wedding Photographers, Here's A Little Guidance From The "Wedding Front Line..."
I was visiting Photographer Jenny GG at her new Studio in Seattle yesterday and fell in love with a canvas portrait she had just completed of Dustin and Erin - it is an incredible shot of the bottom of their legs - wedding formal wear, bare feet on the Alderbrook Resort boat dock - very fun. And a perfect wall memento for this terrific couple whose wedding we fondly remember from this past October.
Each year, I work with dozens of photographers - many of whom I see more than twice. As one of the only "vendors" at a wedding on a wedding day, I have the remarkable opportunity to know these terrific guys/gals who take on the enormous task (and stressful) of capturing a wedding day.
If you are selecting and/or working with a wedding photographer this year, here are a few important pointers to keep in mind:
- Personality: Find a photographer or team whose personality you like. This is a big/huge job and finding a Photo God/Goddess whose approach to life is key in extracting those "once in a lifetime shots." In other words, if you are out-going and charismatic in personality, go with a photographer with a similar approach.
- Money: Yes, it costs a pretty penny (no matter what the budget) for a Photographer. And in my book, spend a little more to get the best Photographer possible - shave money from the cake, favors and flowers. Cake - a lot gets left behind at weddings. Favor: many get left at the reception. Flowers: what about giving each Bridesmaid a special/beautiful flower instead of a bouquet?
- Fun: Most of my couples want "happy wedding photos" - not the structure "line-ups" of years past. Work with your photographer to create a purposeful fun photo or two ahead of time - you'll love the result!

Forget The Perfect Wedding Ceremony - Let's Go For Synchronicity And Those "Unexpected Moments!
"An Unexpected & Sweet Ceremony Moment"Diane & Fred
I'm fond of saying a wedding ceremony is a "one time shot." This is "Officiant speak" for the gentle tension I always feel going into a ceremony knowing I have "one shot" to get things right - meaning I can't give you a gift certificate for a "do over!"
And what I absolutely treasure about a ceremony is the synchronicity that seems to follow each couple I work with - i.e., the "unexpected moments."
During Fred and Diane's wedding ceremony, there were several including this shot captured by Joe and Jill (http://www.joejill.com/) that reflects Diane's joyful devotion to the handsome guy in front of her who was so enjoying their ceremony!
So, bring on those unexpected moments. Forget the "perfect wedding ceremony" - the wedding ceremony where everything is orchestrated and "perfect." I much prefer an enjoyable ceremony that is comfortable, real, romantic and with a dash of the unexpected!

Dennis and Claire's Moonlight & Candles Wedding Ceremony At JM Cellars, Woodinville...
Oh, sometimes I just have too much fun at a wedding ceremony! I had the marvelous opportunity to marry Dennis and Claire at the fabulous new wedding venue, JM Cellars in Woodinville.
Things got a little dark before we all knew it. And most of the ceremony was done in the moonlight with what seemed to be a zillion candles all around. Being that we were at a winery, Dennis and Claire toasted their marriage within their ceremony with a special wine for the occasion - and thankfully, I navigated my way around this ritual in the moonlight and candles.
If you'd like to take a peak at Dennis and Claire's venue choice for their wedding, go to www.jmcellars.com - and ask for Peggy! My thanks to Joe and Jill Hein of http://www.joejill.com/ for getting some fabulous photos of this marvelous ceremony.

Chip and Susanne's "Sunny Day" December Wedding Ceremony At St. Paul's Church, Port Gamble...
Photographer William Ceriale took this beautiful "just after the ceremony" shot on the steps of St. Paul's Church this past Saturday afternoon. Chip and Susanne were married in a sweet and intimate ceremony surrounded by family and friends.
In honor of Chip's Hawaiian heritage, the couple exchanged leis with a kiss, gave leis to their parents and also surprised Susanne's children with special words and the gift of a lei.
St. Paul's Church and Port Gamble is a favorite place of mine for a wedding ceremony. Julie McAfee and her staff do a tremendous job insuring the success of each wedding at St. Paul's Church and the Port Gamble Pavilion - take a peak at www.portgambleweddings.com
Chip and Susanne...I wish you much aloha!

Fred and Diane Lee's Wedding Day at SODO Park...Compliments of Seattle Wedding Planner Michelle Engvall!
One of my favorite Wedding Planners, Michelle Engvall, just sent me a link to a posting on her blog showcasing one of my favorite couples of this past year - Dr. Fred and Diane Lee.
Like Michelle, I fell in love with Fred and Diane and was so honored to officiate their wedding ceremony at SODO Park. Michelle did a fabulous job detailing this magnificent wedding day - if you'd like to take a peak at everything done "right," please go to: http://tinyurl.com/ykg32ku

Dustin and Erin's Wedding Ceremony On An October Sunday At Alderbrook Resort!
I captured this sweet photo of Dustin and Erin immediately after their wedding ceremony last weekend at Alderbrook Resort. What a beautiful couple ~ what a beautiful wedding day!
Dustin and Erin exchanged their vows in a waterside tent surrounded by their family and friends. We had hankie moments, we had giggles, we had sacred moments and so much more.
Alderbrook Resort is a magnificent property for a wedding ceremony and celebration. Julie Noise, Mark Phelan and the team there is exceptional in every way!
Dustin and Erin - you must return to Alderbrook for every anniversary and celebrate your grand fortune in having found each other!

Brian and Marjan Disler's Inter-Faith Wedding Ceremony At Seattle's Rainier Club...
Brian and Marjan's beautiful Inter-faith wedding ceremony at The Rainier Club wove together tradition and ritual from the Jewish and Perisan traditions. Brian and Marjan worked with me to create a robust wedding ceremony that celebrated Marjan's Persian heritage and Brian's Jewish background.
Jen and Jody - www.jenandjody.com - were shooting family photos when I arrived to coordinate all pre-ceremony details. I fumbled for my camera in my bag and took this photo - and I like it! It shows Jen and Jody doing what they do so well and captured my happiness in the moment to be a part of such a magnificent ritual!

A Very Fun And Uplifting Ceremony On A Sunny Friday Evening at Bothell's Monte Villa Farmhouse...
Okay, sometimes in this work, you've just gotta smile BIG. And smile I did on Alan and Christina's wedding day. Alan and Christina were married on a Friday evening at the Monte Villa Farmhouse - an idyllic evening in all ways.
What I truly appreciate about this couple is their generous and appreciative natures and how we worked to create a very fun and uplifting wedding ceremony - one that set the tone for the evening's celebration.
Alan and Christina - I wish you much, much happiness. I left your wedding with such a happy feeling in my heart... isn't the Monte Villa Farmhouse the most lovely venue in such a crazy "corporate" park?!

Roger and Kelly Huggins and Family! A Monte Villa Farmhouse Wedding...
I loved getting to know Roger and Kelly and working with them to create a sweet and memorable ceremony on one warm Thursday evening a few weeks ago at the marvelous Monte Villa Farmhouse in Bothell.
And take a look at their girls! The young lady on the left is Kelly's beautiful daughter (with a huge sense of style!) and on the right is the couple's sweet little one. Picture perfect!
Roger and Kelly - You are an inspiration for all of us and I wish you much love and happiness.

Get The Officiant "Outta There!" - Keeping The Focus On The Couple and NOT the Officiant!
Okay, here is one of my pet peeves. A couple ties a bow around their wedding ceremony with a beautiful pronouncement and memorable kiss and the Officiant is crowding their special photo!
In this work that I do, I move around - sometimes a little, sometimes a lot - during a ceremony to keep the focus on the couple and their family and friends.
And one of the places you'll never see me is smack in the middle of a kiss. I love a pronouncement where the focus is fully on the couple, like the amazing photo of Graham and Chrystal above, without the Officiant in the photo.

Bill and Lindy's Wonderful "I Do!" Wedding Ceremony At Kiana Lodge...
"I Do!" How I love this couple!
Bill and Lindy were married in front of their family and friends in a late morning ceremony at Kiana Lodge this past Sunday. Yes, it was quite the morning, which included the Bainbridge - Seattle ferry crashing into Coleman dock! Thankfully, all of Bill and Lindy's guests were already at Kiana Lodge.
What I treasured about Lindy's participation in her wedding ceremony was her absolute joy in joining her life to Bill's. When Lindy replied, "I Do" - it was a festive, fun and drew alot of elegant laughter and smiles.
Joyful Photo: As you can tell from the marvelous and poignant photo above, captured by Wedding Photographer Extraordinaire, Kurt Smith (www.kurtsmithphotography.com), Lindy's "I Do" moment perfectly framed a beautiful and memorable ceremony!

Stuart and Nicole's Memorable Wedding Day At Novelty Hill Januik Winery...
You've gotta love Stuart and Nicole Roy! Not only is the couple meant to be together, they know how to throw a party! Stuart and Nicole celebrated their partnership with marriage this past Saturday evening at one of the newest and finest venues on the Eastside, Novelty Hill Januik Winery in Woodinville - www.noveltyhilljanuik.com
On-Site Event Manager, Emily, did a smashing job in helping me coordinate an elegant start to this couple's wedding ceremony and from what I could see of the reception set-up, it was definitely an evening for lifetime memories.
Stuart and Nicole, I agree - I hope we meet again, some place, some time!

Chris and Ann's Sweet Wedding Ceremony At The Magnificent Parson's Garden on Queen Anne Hill, Seattle...
Wedding Photographer Sharlane Chase put it best to me on Chris and Ann's wedding day - what an elegant couple, what style!
I had the lovely opportunity to share in Chris and Ann's wedding ceremony at Parsons Garden's on Queen Anne Hill (one of my favorite places for a wedding ceremony in Seattle!) and on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at the hour of 2:00 p.m., Chris and Ann exchanged vows to the delight of their family and friends.
What did I take away from Chris and Ann? That the small touches in a wedding day are the big things - and they don't have to be expensive. For instance, you can't see it fully from the photo, but Ann's bouquet and flowers were stunning - simple, gorgeous and soft - I'm calling you, Ann, to get the name of your florist!

Celebrating Sean's Magnificent Spirit - Seattle Celebrant Sean Patrick O'Reilly
One of Seattle's finest Celebrants, Sean Patrick O'Reilly, unexpectedly passed away on July 22nd. When I got the call, I absolutely could not believe it. I was without words.
In so many ways, I looked up to Sean. I remember lunches and meetings in his offices where we shared "ceremony" stories and giggles (Sean was so full of joy). Sean created and delivered a wedding ceremony with the upmost care, spirit and personal touches.
As I work thru August, I am dedicating each wedding ceremony to Sean. Today, I am off to marry the marvelous Weston and Tanya at Gasworks Park and then will be at Parsons Garden for Ann and Chris's wedding ceremony.
Thank you, Sean. For giving me the opportunity to sit on the couch with you and share stories, to be inspired by the magic of your craft and for the laughter.

Graham and Chrystal's Wedding Ceremony - Bubbles, Bubbles And More Bubbles!
Graham and Chrystal Comley Graham and Chrystal were married this past Friday evening under a cloudy sky at the marvelous Snoqualmie Golf & Country Club. They capped off their wedding ceremony with an explosion of bubbles - i.e., bubbles everywhere at processional! I can't wait to see the processional photo from their wedding ceremony. Bubbles might be a simple "thing" but they are so festive, inexpensive and bring great joy as a couple moves into their reception.

A Wonderful Friday Evening Wedding At DeLille Cellars - Kudos to Scott and Heather!
Our Heather Neal is a true fashionista! You can't see the full effect from the wonderful photo above but Heather's wedding dress ensemble and accessories were absolutely smashing for her wedding day! Even Jen and Jody, our couple's wonderful photographers agreed with me and they have a "true eye" when it comes to beauty.
Not only did Heather walk down the aisle in grace and beauty, but I was touched by how Scott and Heather included Scott's daughter, Heather, into their wedding ceremony. Yes, it was "hot afternoon" and you could sweetly feel the warmth of love and joy among this couple's family and friends.

PJ and Maegan's Memorable Destination Wedding Celebration At Kiana Lodge...
PJ and Maegan Wilkinson PJ drove 12 hours in treacherous Mid-west Winter weather to ask Maegan's parents for her hand in marriage. What I loved about PJ and Maegan is how they sweetly tied together the traditional and the contemporary to create a beautiful wedding ceremony and celebration at one of my favorite places on earth, Kiana Lodge.
As you can see from the photo taken by the wonderful Kurt Smith (www.kurtsmithphotography.com) moments after they began walking down the aisle, PJ and Maegan were elated to begin the new phase of their journey together as partners, buddies and loving husband and wife.
Congratulations PJ and Maegan!

Chris and Malia's Seattle Wedding Ceremony - The Gift of Generosity & Graciousness
I was deeply touched to share in Chris and Malia's wedding ceremony. It was a marvelous 7:30 p.m. ceremony on board the historic Skanskonia Ferry Boat.
Simply put, Chris and Malia set the tone for their wedding day with generosity and graciousness. Chris was amazing in all ways as he took charge of so many day-of planning details for his Sweetheart. Malia's beautiful smile and generous nature welcomed guests and made each person around her feel that they were indeed one of the most important pieces of this wedding day.
Chris and Malia - thank you for giving me the lovely opportunity to know you and share in a part of your beautiful wedding day.

Rahn and Dawn's Seattle Wedding Extravaganza at Golden Gardens Park!
Well, if there ever was a very fun and memorable ceremony, I put Rahn and Dawn's marvelous wedding at Golden Gardens Park at the top of my short list! And this remarkable couple took everything in stride with grace and humor - you've gotta love that!
So, let's see...what were some of the elements and unexpected surprises to the Stolworthy's ceremony?
- lots of wind which made things very blustery and fun
- a train in the middle of the ceremony (toot! toot!)
- a microphone that wouldn't behave properly and finally did
- gorgeous wedding vows
- fabulous family and friends who took everything in stride
- no parking. Na da. Guests walked in from all over - it was a packed day for people at the park. And no complaints were heard.
The most wonderful Cheryl Jones from www.inaframe.com took this beautiful photo of Rahn and Dawn and captured yesterday's festivities.
Rahn and Dawn - I suggest a picnic at Golden Gardens every year on your anniversary and wish you much happiness together....

I loved officiating Romero and Erin's wedding ceremony at the marvelous Lake Union Cafe. We worked together to create a traditional wedding ceremony with contemporary pieces and the "tying of the lasso" from Romero's Mexican tradition included both sets of parents in this beautiful ritual.
Jennifer of www.redfishphoto.com took this poignant photo of Romero and Erin outside of the Cafe, walking away for a few moments.

The Blending Of A Family - How Ceremony Ritual Can Create A Loving Memento For A New Family...
When crafting and writing a wedding ceremony that includes a child or children, I'm very resourceful in how I create and incorporate a family ritual that is appropriate, loving and memorable.
In Paul and Kimberly's morning wedding ceremony at the Woodmark Hotel, Paul's girls helped our couple re-plant a "wedding tree" - complete with watering and scooping of the dirt (no, nobody got dirty!). Smaller children love a ritual that is tactile - meaning, they actually "do something." If you are incorporating a child or children into a ceremony, get creative and mark the moment with a ritual that is meaningful and memorable for your new family.

Lots Of Spontaneous Moments During Justin and Desiree's Wedding Ceremony At Illahee Manor
The Dip! Justin & Desiree The very spunky and fun Jenny of www.jennygg.com perfectly captured "Justin's dip" as Justin and Desiree celebrated the end of their wedding ceremony. Justin and Desiree recently held their wedding at Illahee Manor, a waterfront bed and breakfast, in Bremerton, WA.
It was a crazy hot day and while some of us were wilting a bit in the sun (okay, truth!), this beautiful couple happily smiled and glowed the entire time during their ceremony.
I especially loved how Justin's Mother made a few impromptu comments during the ceremony that just seemed to fit each sweet and spontaneous moment. In many ways, the spontaneous and unexpected pieces/moments of a wedding become a unique part of a couple's story - and truth be told, a wedding day usually holds more than a few of these moments!

The Seattle Wedding of Rajesh & Linda Pandey - Beautiful In Every Sweet Way....
Rajesh and Linda's love story and devotion is an inspiration to everyone around them. And it was such a joy for me to marry this couple in front of 50 of their dearest family and friends. Linda's best friend, Jennifer, sang two beautiful songs - including one with special lyrics just for Rajesh and Linda. The sisters of the couple read letters that Rajesh and Linda had written to their families and it was truly a sweet hanky moment. But most of all, it was delightful to be in the presence of two people who so obviously adore one another for all the right reasons.
Rajesh and Linda's moments were captured by wedding photographer Chris Sollart...or as Linda shared with me, "Chris managed to transform a pair people comfortable in sweat pants into fashionistas!" For more on Chris's amazing work, I invite you to take a peak: www.chrissollart.com

Mike and Ann Huffman - A Memorable Ceremony At Alderbrook Resort With A Remarkable Couple...
How could you not fall in love with Mike and Ann Huffman? Over the past couple of months, I so enjoyed working with this couple to create and deliver their wedding ceremony. Mike and Ann have an amazing story and with 60 family and friends, we celebrated their remarkable love story and commitment this past week.
Photographer Ron Shaw from Always Focused On You Photography (www.always-focused-on-you.com) captured the special moments. Mike and Ann were so blessed to have Ron and his team on hand as Ron is one of the best wedding photo guys in the Pacific Northwest!
From the cloudy sky to the wind that whipped up in the middle of the ceremony - to the personalized vows - to the special memorial candle - and so much more, it was a beautiful and poignant ceremony. And what a fun couple, too! This duo really knows how to entertain and kick things up!

Wedding Dog Baxter Almost Steals the Show At Villa Academy!
The marvelous Brian and Jennifer Hartman of Photo Elan - www.photoelan.com - captured this amazing and fun shot of Wedding Dog "Baxter" while his Guardians were being married at the beautiful Villa Academy Chapel.
Baxter proudly walked down the aisle during Ryan and Kelly Schable's wedding ceremony and I caught the handsome canine peaking out from behind a pew several times as he was watching his people. Beloved dogs add so much joy at a wedding ceremony - no matter if the venue is formal or casual.

When Mother Nature Decides To Throw You A Gift - Rain Showers, A Snow Storm...Even A Rainbow!
Matt and Katy Salvolskis It might have been a little chilly for Matt and Katy's 5:00 p.m. wedding ceremony but the joy in the tent for their evening ceremony was truly remarkable in all ways.
In the middle of Matt and Katy's ceremony, a beautiful rainbow unexpectedly appeared and we all took a few moments just to soak in this beautiful gift. "Unexpected stuff" is what I love about a wedding ceremony. You can plan and plan and plan and then Mother Nature unexpectedly decides to throw you a beautiful gift! And when this happens in a ceremony, you just go with it!
Congratulations, Matt and Katy!

Kacy and Cindy's Wedding Rings - Simple, Very Unique and Precious...
Kacy and Cindy were married high in the sky on April 4th and Sean Werner of www.weddingphotog.com captured this wonderful shot. During the ceremony, Kacy showed me his very unique ring.
You see, Kacy and Cindy love the Grand Tetons mountains and this place has a lot of significance for them as a couple. So, Kacy had his ring custom made with the image of the Grand Tetons surrounding his wedding band. Very fun. Very beautiful.
